Artificial Reef-Plantations from Plastic Waste

From plastic waste it is possible to produce artificial reefs for breeding oysters, sea kale and fish simultaneously.

Such a construction will have cells for placing soil packs on which seaweed will be planted. In these bags, the soil will be packed between layers of bandages in such a way that water cannot wash out. But for germination of roots, the fabric will be convenient.

Between these cells will be located threads and twigs for oysters broodstock .

For the protection of oysters, this space will be covered with a removable mesh.

It is possible to add additional cages for oysters.

The reef hull will have niches in which fish and other marine inhabitants can hide.

In these niches it will be easier to catch them.

For weighting the construction you can use the sea ground itself - it will be useful for seaweed roots too.

Although it is possible and the second version, when this reef will float on the ocean surface. But it will be convenient only in very quiet coves.

Plastic does not react with sea water and does not poison it. But for greater reliability, it will be covered with a special cement mortar, which is more suitable for sticking marine organisms.

To hold this coating, the plastic surface will be cellular.
